Yoga + Ocean Adventure a Success!

We successfully held the first (of hopefully many!) Yoga + Ocean Adventures and what an amazing morning it was! Our day started early, 6:30am at the harbor in Kona, so we could shove off by 7 and begin our search for Hawaiian spinner dolphins. We found them immediately upon leaving the harbor (they are often found swimming at the harbor mouth in the early mornings). We got to enjoy this pod from the boat, watching them sleepily surface right in front of us as the guests hung off of the boat's railings to get the closest view. We continued north to Garden Eel Cove where we found a pod circling in the clear blue waters. Here we got to hop in and enjoy close encounters with the dolphins for about an hour! We could not have asked for a better interaction with these underwater beauties! They jumped and played and danced with us underwater, every one of us getting an up-close & personal view of how magical they are!

Then we packed up and headed north to one of the Kona coast's most beautiful and secluded beaches.  Turquoise blue water all the way to the beach!

Look at that water!

Arriving at this amazing location, we packed up towels, yoga mats, water and sunscreen and floated our gear on a surfboard to the beach (thanks to Chad's skills at managing surf boards...we actually pulled this off)! We set up a yoga class on the beach with these pristine waters as our focal point! What a lucky group! After some yoga play followed by splashing around in the ocean, we headed back to the boat. But our excursion wasn't over with yet...

Our crew was nice enough to allow our boat of daring water folks to take a look at one of Kona's dive sites famous for reef sharks.  Most of our brave yogis (nothing to worry about, these sharks are extremely docile) hopped off the boat to take a look at about 15 reef sharks schooling at the bottom of the sea. Ahhh, the wonders of this abundant ocean!

Beyond the amazing marine life we got to swim with that day and the one-of-a-kind yoga class on the beach, our Yoga Boat was such a special way to engage with our local yogi community. It's one of my favorite things: to bring people together for fun, adventure, yoga and community! Friendships were made, inspiration found, and TONS of fun was had. We're all excited for the next edition! I can make the announcement here that the next opportunity to catch us on the Yoga Boat will be May 20th, 2017.  Don't miss out! Write us via our contact page if you'd like us to hold you a spot!

We couldn't have been more happy...can you tell?

A special thanks to Chad Campbell of the Kona Surf Film Fest for this creative idea we've now brought to life and for making us a memorable video of our day together and also to photographers/filmmakers Joshua Lambus & Seth Conae for the footage used in the video!
